Moet ik uit mijn appartement?
[Gesteld op: 13-08-2009]
Toelichting: I hope it's ok to write this in English. I can read and understand Dutch. In September 2007 I rented an apartment from an agency in Amsterdam for 1 year. After this, the contract was extended for 6 months, then for 3 months and finally for 2 months. The end date is 31st August, in 18 days. In May, I lost my job due to the economic situation and I had hoped to find another job by now. I am unable to move into another flat because I cannot afford a deposit and I do not have an employment contract to show another agency. Yesterday, I wrote to my rental agency and asked to extend my rental contract for another 2 weeks or a month, however I was told they have found new renters to move in from 1st September and they would do the check-out for my apartment whether I am there or not on 31st August. This leaves me with no where to go because I cannot afford a deposit. As an additional note, I am and always have paid rent on time for this apartment and intend to keep doing so for an additional month. I am looking for advice as to whether I really do have to vacate the property on 31st August and, if this is the case, can a rent-paying tenant be put out on the street like this? Thank you.
